SCHAUENBURG Hose Academy

Youtube Tutorials

The SCHAUENBURG HOSE TECHNOLOGY GROUP combines comprehensive competence in the field of hose technology as its qualified partner for hoses for industrial applications as well as for use in household appliances or in sanitary and medical technology - worldwide.

Individual and standardized solutions in the field of connection and connection technology complete the offer. On our FAQ page we want to give an insight into the production and application of industrial hoses and their accessories.

How to cut a netted and compressed poyurethane hose

With this video we want to show you on one of our FLEXADUX® hoses how to properly unpack a compressed and netted hose and how to cut off a individual lengths of it.

1) Open the net
2) Take off the hose and lay it out to its full length. (In this case the total length is 10 meters plus the plus tolerance)
3) The hose must be stretched once to its full length
4) Now we want to cut off 1 meter of the total lenght
5) Use a sharp knife to cut the hose wall along the wire all around
6) Cut the wire
7) That's it!

TPU vs PVC - tensile strengh, elogation ratio

In this test we would like to show you the difference between the tensile strength and the expansio ratio (better elogation at break) of the different plastics TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and PVX (polyvinyl chloride).

Test result:

Force: PVC: 37,36 N vs TPU: 97,14 N
Tensile Stress: PVC: 17,79 MPa vs TPU 46,25 MPa
Elongation percentage: PVC: 255,55 % vs TPU: 481,63 %

TPU withstands 2.6 times of "physical force" in Newton to fatigue of the identical test strip compared to PVC, as well as 2.6 times the tensile stress (force on the same surface area)

Also, TPU has a nearly twice as high stretch ratio (better elongation at break) compared to PVC - which illustrates the
higher elasticity of the plastic and testifies to its higher "reserves" (capacity) under full load.

In Part 2 we see the different elasticity, or the tear strength of the practical "pen example" with spiral hoses made of TPU (transparent) or PVC (gray)

TPU vs PVC "pen Test" - elongation at break

After we were able to demonstrate the stretch ratio of the different plastics (TPU and PVC) on the test bench, we now want to show you a simple "pen test" which shows the difference of the two materials in terms of tear strength and elasticity.

This test illustrates the resistance of the TPU to PVC.

Both hoses FLEXADUX® P2 PU AE (TPU) and FLEXADUX® P2 LF light gray (PVC) and have an identical wall thickness of 0.4 mm.
